How long do you take in the shower?
Submitted by Strive2Be.
I take about 20 minutes because that's how long my hot water lasts at home...if I want a longer shower I'd better like it cool.
What's making you smile today?
The care package I got from Mike yesterday. He sent a picture he drew, a stuffed animal, a book I've really been looking forward to, and orange Milano cookies. It's a box full of happiness. :D (Happiness plus vitamins and my new insurance card)
Whose house (besides your own) were you in last and why?
The last person's house I was in was Bri's apartment for a furmeet on Saturday. Her new place is nice. A bunch of us went out to dinner at Oriental Buffet and then went back to her place to hang out, draw, talk, play SSB Brawl, and watch movies (well, only one movie, AvP2...the boys were hogging the TV playing brawl for most of the night). I spent the night drawing in exchange for my dinner (I love these guys). There was about a dozen of us at dinner and about 10 of us went to hang out afterwards. The guys were pretty well behaved at dinner too. :P They tend to get rowdy and playful there, especially since the put the bigger groups (like us) in the back (party) room, but there was another big group there that had kids, so I told them to watch their mouths and behave :P
As the April 15th tax filing deadline looms, many gay couples are facing higher tax bills because they do not get the federal tax benefits that accompany marriage. The same is true for heterosexual couples who chose not to get married. Do you think this is fair?
I think it's fair for those couples that choose to not get married. I don't believe it's fair for those couples that would love to get married but aren't allowed to. Even if the government decides to call it something else, I believe that gay couples should be allowed to get married (civil union, domestic partnership, whatever) and receive all the benefits a heterosexual couple gets under the law. This goes way beyond tax benefits people....I'm talking about hospital visitation, insurance coverage, adoption rights, etc. ALL those things a husband and wife benefit from but not husband and husband or wife and wife. It's not fair and it's not right.
What are your travel plans for this spring/summer?
Well, if I'm really lucky my travel plans will include going to do an internship somewhere (they are all over the place so I don't know where I'd end up at this point) for a few months. Other than that, Mike and I are going down to Central California for a family reunion (his side) in July.

Are you planning on doing any spring cleaning this year? If so, please share a cleaning tip you swear by.
Yup! Already started. I've been reorganizing the spare room to turn it into an art room...just need to attack the closet up there. I also took down all the books off the bookcases, dusted under them, and reorganized all the books (packing away all the younger ones I don't read but want to save for my future kids and picking out ones we don't want to keep so we can sell them/give them away). We also moved around the living room (I like it much better!) and cleaned the living room and dining room. It looks so much better! Now we just have to attack the back half of the house....
As for cleaning tips?? Ummmm, just buckle down and do it I guess....
Which popular slang expression drives you nuts?
Hawt and Phat....can't stand 'em.
If you were independently wealthy, where in the world would you live?
Submitted by Eileen.
I'd love to be able to stay here in Eureka. I absolutely love it and never want to leave, although I will have to one day (but one day I might be able to move back). Of course I'd want a bigger house with some property and pasture for horses and the like....maybe a big fancy place in nearby Cutten. (Cutten is gorgeous.) I'd love to live in Ireland too, but I love the community spirit and all the community events that happen here. I feel more at home here than I've ever felt anywhere and after only living here six years I feel like a native. Ireland is beautiful, with an amazing sense of history, but does it have farmer's markets and faires every weekend all summer and fall, so many that you have to choose which ones to hit that day because there's no way you can get to them all? Would it have the majestic redwoods and the crashing ocean standing side-by-side? Is it a haven for independent musicians and artists?
Hey, does anyone know if Vox and Livejournal are owned by the same company, run by the same programmers, or anything like that? The last few weeks I've been noticing that Livejournal's version of the Vox QotD, called "Writer's Block" questions, are exactly the same as Vox's QotD. Either they're run by the same people or LJ is ripping off Vox, methinks. What do you think?
Today's:
"If you were independently wealthy, where in the world would you live and how would you spend your time?"
A few other recent ones:
"What is your favorite thing about being sick?"
"What do you most hate sharing with other people?"
"What is the most valuable thing you've ever had stolen from you?"
"Do you have a "catch phrase" for which you are known?"
(The wording is copied directly from LJ.)
